Summary

The Friends of Pittville Green Space Volunteers meet regularly in Pittville Park to undertake tasks like weeding, planting, pruning and litter picking.

Detailed description

Our friendly group of Pittville Park Green Space Volunteers meet throughout the year on the first and third Thursday of the month, between 9.15 and 11.15am (by the aviaries). We undertake a range of jobs including weeding, planting, pruning, clearing and litter picking – volunteers choose the tasks they would like to do. We meet up afterwards for coffee and a chat at Central Cross café.

It is an opportunity to help look after our lovely park as well as make new friends and get out into the fresh air!

If you’d like to find out about joining the team, please contact us for more details or just turn up at the aviaries on the first or third Thursday of the month. No gardening experience is needed and all equipment is provided.

Getting there

The aviaries are situated at the top of the main playground area.

About Friends of Pittville

Friends of Pittville is a volunteer-led charity whose aim is to improve and protect Pittville’s unique environment and heritage for everyone to enjoy.

With over 300 active members, we organise a range of community and fundraising events, produce a regular newsletter, and support major projects to enhance Pittville Park and the surrounding areas. We have various groups of volunteers, including Green Space volunteers , who help to maintain Pittville Park and the other green spaces, and Pittville History Works volunteers, who research and publish information about Pittville’s heritage.

It’s easy to become a member (and no, you don’t have to live in Pittville to join us!)
