We need help to keep our two charity shops running smoothly - one is at our site in Gardners Lane, Cheltenham and the other is in Cheltenham town centre.
Our charity shops are a vital source of income for the Shelter, and we aim to raise £175,000 every year through our shops. Every item sold helps us provide the food, veterinary treatment, safety and care that pets in need rely on.
To help us reach this goal, we’re looking for reliable volunteers who can commit to one or more regular weekly shifts. You don’t need any previous charity shop experience – we’ll provide all the training and support you need to feel confident in your role.
As a shop volunteer, you could help with a variety of tasks, including welcoming and chatting with customers, working on the shop floor, sorting and displaying donations and replenishing stock.
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and become part of a friendly team, while knowing that every shift is helping pets in need.
We’re particularly keen to hear from people who can make a longer-term commitment. Training and supporting new volunteers takes time and resources, so having reliable volunteers who can stay with us, build their confidence and become an established part of the team makes a huge difference.

Cheltenham Animal Shelter is a charity that has been helping animals since 1926. We rescue and re-home unwanted and abandoned stray cats, dogs and small animals from across Gloucestershire.
In addition to our work rehoming pets, we have education programmes aimed at helping young people understand how to be good pet owners, we run community outreach programmes to help pet owners care for their pets and we visit schools and care homes for animal-assisted therapy sessions. We rely entirely on donations and income from our businesses to keep our doors open - these include two charity shops, dog and cat boarding, dog grooming and a low-cost vet practice.
