Help older people access Attendance Allowance by providing friendly support to complete applications and maximise their chances of receiving this benefit.

About the role

Attendance Allowance provides some financial help to those who need support, allowing them to remain comfortable and independent at home. To receive and qualify for the allowance an application form must be submitted, which can be a challenging process. Having some help when filling in these forms can help make sure the application is completed correctly, giving the best chance of success. If you are looking to help others and enjoy chatting with new people, this role could be great for you!

Role Overview:

This role will involve helping clients to complete the Attendance Allowance form in person. You will listen to clients and help them share information about their daily life and needs, so it can be included in their Attendance Allowance application. You will provide kind and friendly support, helping clients feel comfortable and understood.

You will be given in depth training on how to complete these forms and on how to best support your client throughout the process alongside regular check-ins with the team.

Requirements:

  • Listening carefully to ensure your client’s true situation is expressed.
  • Being able to make people feel comfortable discussing their needs.
  • Accurate writing skills are necessary, the form requires detailed written answers.
  • Ability to travel and meet clients in their homes or a community setting.
  • Commitment to training for this role and  have regular contact with us.
  • An enhanced DBS check is required for this position, this will be arranged for you.

Time Commitment

This is flexible depending on your availability. Volunteering is supported by our colleague team so must take place between Monday - Friday. 09:00-17:00.
