Summary
We have a great Community Garden & want to expand into vegetable growing, we need someone with know-how to help please! We're a friendly group & we're keen!Detailed description
Our Community Garden Group has been going for over a year now, & have turned a once neglected area into a thriving community garden, with herbs, peas, lettuces, strawberries and tomatoes all gown this year, as well as lots of wider planting and weeding around the estate. We've built a few big raised beds and done a lot of prep work, what we'd now like to do is start prepping for autumn, and for larger scale vegetable growing. We're looking for someone with lots of growing experience and know how - so if your potatoes are perfect and your carrots are crunchy you could be exactly who we need!
Maybe you had a garden & no longer have the space to grow but would like to - this could be a perfect solution for us all?! Our group is in the habit of meeting on Friday mornings from around 10 to 12-ish but that's not set in stone and we can be flexible if we find the right person (or people).
We also have Community Action Days on a Saturday morning once a month followed by a free pot luck lunch outside our Community Room - it would be great if you join those days too, we have a great time. You would get to meet some amazing people, with big hearts, open minds, good food, and a lot of laughter, and you'd be helping these same people learn how to grow their own fresh, healthy foods too.

About Middle of the Hill Community Group
We are open on Tuesday from 11-1pm and Thursdays 11-1pm and 5-7 pm. We greet our customers, & help them with whatever they need from our fridge, freezers and shelves, we also have an advice board should customers need access to further support. We are open access & we don't ask questions, food is free to those in need though donations are encouraged, we have costs, some food we buy in & every little helps to keep us stocked & cover expenses.
We also have a free self serve hot & cold drinks stand, again small donations are welcome. We will be employing a Community Cook soon & becoming a Community Cafe for two lunchtimes a week initially in the near future, so there's always lots going on.
It’s a fun and rewarding volunteer opportunity. We urgently need new volunteers to join us in this exciting & rewarding venture!
