SummaryJet Age Museum is seeking volunteers to maintain our static jets and associated exhibits, both inside and outside the museum, raising them to display standard.
Jet Age Museum is recruiting volunteers to make a difference!
Whilst always recruiting to cover all aspects of museum activity we are in particular looking to form interoperable teams to maintain our static jets and associated exhibits, both inside and outside the museum, and where necessary to bring them up to display standard. We are also seeking to augment the restoration/reconstruction project team and engage an overall Conservation and Restoration Co-ordinator/Manager.
So, firstly, we are seeking to engage volunteers who will be responsible for inspecting, recording, cleaning, preparing, repairing, sealing, more cleaning and then being responsible for continued TLC! We need those who are prepared to lead these team and those who are prepared to roll up their sleeves and get busy! Teams will operate on days and at times by mutual agreement all-year round.
Secondly, we would be interested to hear from skilled engineers who would wish to join the team responsible for aircraft restoration/reconstruction project activity. This team operates on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in a well provisioned workshop.
Lastly, we need an experienced person to lead and co-ordinate the activities of the interoperable teams detailed above. This would suit a retired aviation specialist who has time to use their skills to direct volunteers in their day to day activities as well as helping to determine the strategic direction for conservation and restoration of the museum’s assets.
These are exciting opportunities to get close to vintage aircraft and help ‘Preserve the Past and Inspire the Future’. So, why not make contact with Jet Age Museum and tell us what skills you may have to meet these tasks!
