Summary
We need help to maintain, develop and protect our community garden so that it can be enjoyed by everyone.Detailed description
About the role
Main activities:
- Working as part of a team
- help with the upkeep development and protection of the garden so that it can be enjoyed by everyone
- tidying up
- dead-heading
- weeding borders
- pruning trees, shrubs and plants
- propagating and nursery work
- grass cutting
- option for woodwork such as making raised beds or furniture from pallets
- being a friendly face for visitors to the garden answering any questions they may have
- helping out with the planned development of the garden
Time Commitment: To be arranged but ideally at least 1hr per week. This can be during opening hours, or doing things like weeding and watering on your own schedule.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Some experience of gardening would be an advantage but not essential
- Enjoy working as part of a team
- Reasonably fit
- Willing to work out of doors in all weather conditions
Training and Support
- An initial induction will be given to all new volunteers
- Volunteers will also be able to learn from fellow volunteers and paid experts
- We will hold regular volunteer meetings to provide an opportunity to give feedback and contribute ideas, as well as meeting other volunteers
