Summary

Dursley Open Door Club are looking for a Chairman to oversee the running of their thriving social club for adults with learning disabilities.

Detailed description

Dursley Open Door Club has just celebrated its 40th Anniversary. During this time it has provided an invaluable support network to the adults who attend, giving them the opportunity to meet new people, create lasting friendships and have lots of fun!

Club nights are held on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 - 9.00 and provide a range of activities such as table tennis, cards, darts, art and craft and various music and dance events. We also take members to local shows, have an annual boat trip, go sailing and organise a day trip to see local places of interest.

As well as supporting on club nights and club outings, the role of Chairman involves the following tasks:

  • Ensure the club runs smoothly and that club officers fulfil their tasks.
  • Act as one of club trustees.
  •  Make sure all appropriate policies are in place and are adhered to correctly.
  • Chair club meetings.

All of our members and volunteers count Tuesday evenings as one of the highlights of their week, and we would love you to join us.

As a part of this role you will need to provide suitable references and complete a DBS check.

About Dursley Open Door Club

Dursley Open Door Club is a thriving social club for adults with learning disabilities. Our volunteer-run club has been operating successfully for 40 years, with members coming from Dursley, Cam, Berkeley, Wotton-under-Edge and beyond.

Meetings take place on a Tuesday evening in Dursley town centre and provide a wide range of fun activities for members, from live music to sailing, dance lessons to cinema trips and just about any excuse for a party! We also organise club outings, with our latest being to see the wonderful Gifford Circus.
