Detailed description

Crossroads Gloucestershire is a specialist charitable organisation, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, providing high-quality support services to enable people who are in need by reason of frailty, ill-health, or disability and their carers to lead safer and healthier lives.

Employing approximately 90 staff, with a turnover of circa £2.3m, and a CQC Rating of “Good”, Crossroads has a strong track record of maintaining high quality care through and post-Covid.

We are seeking a Chair to work closely with the Chief Executive, board members and staff to help our organisation meet its vision and strategic objectives. Despite the many challenges facing the industry, we are working to enhance organisational resilience and sustainability, and this role will play a key part in shaping our future.

Experience in the health and social care sector would be desirable, and the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience as a Chair, Trustee, or in a senior leadership role.
  • Knowledge of the wider voluntary sector.
  • Experience in effective partnership management and collaborative working.

Crossroads is based in Cinderford within the Forest of Dean although there is also a Gloucester office. Trustee and Committee meetings are normally held 6 times a year (including the AGM) via on-line technology. Being available as needed to provide appropriate advice and mentorship and maintaining regular contact with fellow Trustees and management of the Trust will be expected, but we envisage that the commitment required would not exceed more than 2 days a month.

This is a rewarding volunteer role which is not remunerated, although mileage expenses are reclaimable. The appointment will be for a period of three years with potential extensions of tenure up to a maximum of nine years.

Crossroads recognises the positive value of diversity and promotes equality.  We welcome and encourage applications from the BAME community as well as those with a disability.
