• Resources are secured to meet current and new demands and that all funds are used responsibly,
• Recruitment and selection processes for staff and volunteers are fair, and we are representative of the local community,
• Training and support are available for staff and volunteers,
• Local partner organisations and funders are aware of the charity and its services.

Citizens Advice Stroud & Cotswold Districts provide a comprehensive advice service to a large and diverse population, providing services at a variety of locations with offices in Stroud and Cirencester and via local libraries and food banks, as well as providing telephone, on-line and face to face advice services for people who want advice on a wide range of issues.
Who we are looking for
Citizens Advice Stroud & Cotswold Districts are looking for someone with appropriate financial expertise to join the Board and the Finance Sub Committee with a view to taking on the role of Treasurer. Our previous Treasurer is acting as our Interim Chair.
The role of Treasurer is a key one for us in order to keep us on track financially and keep us viable so that we can use our healthy reserves to continue to help people through the cost of living crisis and beyond.
We are specifically looking to recruit someone who ideally has an appropriate accountancy qualification but, as importantly, has relevant financial management skills and experience (not necessarily from within the Not For Profit sector) to work alongside our CEO and Finance Officer to oversee the financial aspects of the Charity on behalf of the Board and so ensure both proper governance and the long term financial sustainability of the Charity.
We want our Board to reflect the community we support. To enhance the diversity of our Board we would particularly welcome applications from those with lived experience of poverty and living on a low income, Black and ethnic minority candidates, disabled candidates and those from under-represented groups and marginalised groups. We are also keen to encourage applications from younger members of the community, those who have accessed Citizen Advice services. Previous Board experience is not required as training will be provided.
The Trustee Board normally meets every two months in the late afternoon/early evening and meetings typically last a couple of hours and may be online via Teams, or in person, in either Cirencester or Stroud.
The Treasurer/Finance Trustee role can require up to 2 or so hours per week and includes chairing the Finance and Risk Sub Committee which meets monthly. Trustees can also participate in other projects which would involve some additional time on occasions.
There is an AGM in October or November to attend and additionally one meeting each year is allotted to strategic planning and will require approximately one further day’s commitment.
Overall the total time commitment for a Trustee is approximately one day per month
Induction and training are provided, as is support from an experienced and knowledgeable Trustee and the staff team. Trustees are not paid, but expenses are covered.
We will also provide a Trustee Information and Role Description Pack on request.
Should you wish to discuss the role further please make initial contact by email.
