Summary

We are looking for volunteers who can provide friendship to adults with learning disabilities in the Gloucestershire area.

Detailed description

Have you got a few hours a month to change someone’s life and enrich your own? This may involve simply visiting to have a cup of tea, going for a walk, going shopping, or popping to the pub for a drink and a game of pool - all the normal things in life that friends do together.

In addition we also offer a wide range of activities and events throughout the year and we are always on the lookout for volunteers that can help out at these events.

We would also love to hear from people who are happy to go into care homes and chat with their residents.

No formal qualifications or prior experience with learning disabilities are required to volunteer with us. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and abilities.

These opportunities come with full training, paid expenses and support from a Volunteer Coordinator.

About Building Circles

At Building Circles we know that sometimes people with Learning Disabilities and their families and carers can sometimes feel “cut off” or lonely.

Building Circles are a charity that offers them the opportunity to enjoy a more fulfilling life. We train and support volunteers who offer friendship to people with learning disabilities and their families.

It is our mission to provide life enhancing opportunities for socially isolated people with moderate to very complex needs. We aim to be a quality provider, ensuring excellent training and continuing support is given to volunteers to establish and maintain friendships with individuals and their families. We seek to extend opportunities for social interaction by offering a range of community activities for all participants.
